Jeep FC-150
Willys Jeep FC-150 Forward Control Pickup
This is the home of my Jeep FC-150 restoration "journal". My goal is to document the process with as much detail as possible. Photos and videos will be posted as time allows.
The Jeep Forward Control
The Willys Jeep Forward Control, also known as the FC, was a pick-up truck that was produced by Willys and then Kaiser Jeep from 1956 to 1965. It was also assembled in other international markets. The layout featured a cab-over (forward control) design, meaning the driver sits above the front axle and in front of the engine.
The FC was available in several models, including the FC-150, FC-170, and FC-170 DRW. The FC-150 had a wheelbase of 81 inches and a payload capacity of 1,500 pounds, while the FC-170 had a wheelbase of 103.5 inches and a payload capacity of 3,500 pounds. The FC-170 DRW had dual rear wheels for increased carrying capacity.
The Forward Control models were primarily marketed as work vehicles for corporate, municipal, military, as well as civilian use. Regular pickup box beds were standard, but customers were offered many "Jeep-approved" specialized bodies from outside suppliers.
The FC's cab-over-engine design gave it a short turning radius and improved maneuverability, making it well-suited for off-road use. It was powered by various engines, including the Hurricane F-head 4-cylinder engine and the Super Hurricane L-head 6-cylinder engine, both designed by Willys.
